Catwoman Summer Project Story #2 announced
July 17th, 2010On Social Saturdays I write about Social Networking.
OK, Catfans… are you ready for the second story that we’ll be shooting in the Catwoman Summer Project? Remember that the costume we’ll be using is based on the modern black catsuit with goggles?
Over on Facebook you can find the Catwoman #2 winning script: “The Cat and The Lioness” by Gael Mansard. The story involves an exotic location, Talia Al Ghul, and Catwoman tied up in a chair. But if you think you can improve upon the script, give it a shot!
Next Friday I’ll submit the best of all the submitted scripts and tie them into one sexy package. Don’t forget that all contributing writers will be credited. And if you just want to give feedback, we welcome that too. Head on over to the discussion page and let me know what you think would make it the best possible fan film.
Have fun!

July 10th, 2010On Social Saturdays I write about Social Networking.
Thank you to everyone that has been contributing to my Catwoman Summer Project. I am very happy to announce the winner of the second Catwoman costume below…
The fans asked for it, and they’re getting it! July’s selection will be my interpretation of the modern incarnation of Selina Kyle, as envisioned by the late Michael Turner, Adam Hughes, and not forgetting Darwyn Cooke.
We will shoot a short fan film to accompany the photo shoot and we need YOUR story. You’ll have a little under ONE week to write a short treatment or script for the modern Cats. We had a lot of fantastic submissions last month and I hope to see even more this month.
The rules are as follows:
1. Write a short treatment or short script ONE-TWO pages long.
2. Use ONE or TWO locations.
3. Use Catwoman/Selina Kyle as the main character. You may optionally use a childhood Selina (here’s your chance for an origin story).
4. Keep it low-budget. That means no explosions, special effects, green screen, foreign locations, or other things that would make my producer panic. Try instead to keep it simple and creative. It could be funny. It could be dramatic. It could be surreal. How do you see Catwoman?
5. Keep it Safe For Work! ;-)
6. Post your submission on the Facebook Discussion Page, just title it “Catwoman #2:” followed by the title of your piece.
7. Turn it in before Friday, July 16.
If you participated last month I encourage you to resubmit your scripts, or rewrite them. Also, you can submit as many times as you like!
Once we select the winning story, I’ll open the contest up for a script rewrite, so spend your time writing a strong treatment. It’s all about a unique idea, working within the guidelines.
Many thanks again and good luck!
NOTE: The winning author will be credited on the finished piece, as well as all other creative contributions that we use.

July 3rd, 2010On Social Saturdays I write about Social Networking.
Ok, late last night I finished revising and re-writing the first script for my Catwoman Summer Project “Catwoman: Re-Emergence”. I selected Mathew Wilmot’s script and added my personal touch to it. I also used revisions from Martin LaFrance & Gael Mansard. Check out the first page below:
To read the rest click on this link to get the PDF. We welcome you to contribute any storyboards for how you envision it, and we’ll try to work in your shots. Simply submit them to the Facebook page and wait for the fans to weigh in.
And while you’re at it, can you help settle the issue of what boots Catwoman should wear?
There is a serious boot-debate going on!July 3rd,2010 Blogging, Catwoman, Social Saturdays | Sections: Amber Moelter, boots, Catwoman, Catwoman: Re-Emergence, costume, facebook, Gael Mansard, Martin LaFrance, Mathew Wilmot, script, Selina Kyle, storyboards | No CommentsA “Last Dance” tease
June 27th, 2010On Social Saturdays I write about Social Networking.
I’m super, super excited to present to you my, er…Girl In The Red Dress’s newest single “Last Dance”. It is derivative of the classic disco track from Donna Summer, but as I’m sure you’ll notice Girl got her hands dirty and fooled around with the melody until it became her own.
So, here you go…the teaser for the track. The song will be made available here at ALM Talkies online this coming Thursday, July 1. Just in time for your 4th of July celebrations…

June 19th, 2010On Social Saturdays I write about Social Networking.

Shooting People, an international networking organization dedicated to the support and promotion of independent filmmaking, recently hooked up with the Vimeo Festival and Awards.
Here’s what Shooters, as they like the be called, have to say about the online festival:
The premier video sharing platform for professional image creators is running this film upload competition whch features nine categories, a USD25k grant for ‘Best Video’, and a jury for which to just die: David Lynch (yes, really), Roman Coppola, our own Morgan Spurlock, Lucy Walker, DJ Spooky … this is just a sample of a long list, which is being added to all the time.
Here’s the categories, including Digital Maverick and The Feature Presentation Honorary awards.

You can submit your own film or even nominate another film that is online. And if you’d like to go in the running to win a Vimeo+ account, check out the Shooting People poll To Upload, Or Not.
Best of luck!
