Dirty Step Upstage just won another award at a film festival. What festival? (I made it easy for you)BONUS:
What award did Dirty Step Upstage win at that festival?June 1st,2010 Blogging, Events, Promotion, Trivia Tuesdays | Sections: Award, Dirty Step Upstage, Girl In The Red Dress, GITRD, giveaway, iPad, ipod nano, prize | 4 CommentsALMT-ThTh: Demand YOUR Dirty Red Party
February 25th, 2010On ALMT-Theatrical Thursdays I write about movies.
A little while back there was all that buzz over a little movie called Paranormal Activity and how, by putting the power in the people’s hands, it was released nationwide. All through a service on Eventful, called Demand It. Here’s an informative article from EW.com when PA was about half-way to its goal, which it eventually reached. Did you know that Steven Spielberg thought the film was haunted?
Anyway, I thought I would power the power in your hands. If you want to bring a Dirty Step Upstage screening to your city, DEMAND IT! If there’s enough demand, I’ll arrange a local screening and performance as Girl In The Red Dress, along with an intimate Q&A with the director, me! Get your friends to DEMAND DSU and together we’ll throw a Dirty Red Party.
For a sneak peek at what you get, check out the photos from the film’s New York premiere.

February 12th, 2010On ALMT-Fan Fridays I write about fandom.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought I would take a moment to tell you, my fans, that I love and appreciate you.
Being an independent filmmaker and musician is a tough gig. With it comes rejection, financial insecurity, and the skepticism that no one gives a fig what I am writing about or creating. Except my mom. She reads my blog every day. (Hi Mom. I’ll call you later.)
But I do it, because I don’t what else to do. I can’t imagine doing anything else but trying to make the dreams in my head a reality. It’s quite a rollercoaster and having your feedback and creative contributions makes the ride fun, rather than scary.
So, I try to invent ways to keep you entertained and involved. Like the daily blog. I started that on January 1st and already I feel much better acquainted with those of you that comment or send me Twitter or Facebook feedback.
And the little contests. We started the iPod contests last year and plan to continue them, because of the great interaction it brought. The same goes for Trivia Tuesdays. I know that I love giveaways and it makes me feel valued. That’s why we decided to give away an iPad for the grand prize (to say THANK YOU for tuning into ALMT-TT).
We’re even about to undergo some changes on the website that I hope will bring us even closer together. I want to make the site as easy to navigate, including my outside projects. I want the social interaction to become less cumbersome. I want you to be able to easily subscribe to the features that want to receive. Fingers crossed we’ll be able to offer that, and more.
But the project that I am really passionate about? Girl In The Red Dress – Fan Fridays. I can envision a community where you can remix and revision each others contributions, creating a truly collaborative environment. It could grow into a social network of sorts, so you can easily communicate with each other (which some of you already do on Twitter). Kind of like Deviant Art meets Etsy meets Youtube meets some kind of awesome remix technology that is certain to be out there.
But I digress. The point is, you guys rock and I can dream because of you. You lift me up on a terribly non-fantastic day. You give me the drive to write blog after blog and plan giveaway after giveaway. Because of you, I dream big and trust I’ll get there in the end.
On that note, I was thinking
I should do a little sumpin’ sumpin’ for V-day.
Well, it just so happens that I have a pretty amazing custom-made, limited edition red and black latex CD case to accompany the GITRD EP (which you already know about if you checked out the recent GITRD-FF newsletter).I thought I would throw a little contest and give TWO of these away. One for the artistically-adoit and one for the creatively-challenged.
I will award my favorite GITRD-FF submission with this very special, limited edition case and the CD. I’m going to give another set away to a random submission, so it pays just to try. To quality you must submit between now until the end of Sunday. That only gives you the weekend, so get cracking!
Remember it can be a picture, a poem, a photo, a sculpture, a movie, a song, a dress, a cake, a comic book or anything else you can express a story or character through. It can be short or long. Big or small. Intricate or simple. You just need to follow these guidelines and you’ll be golden.
Work in a team, if you like (just don’t forget Where Is The Love when it comes to sharing the prize). And don’t forget that EVERY approved submission will receive this glossy 8×10 photo of the Girl.
You can’t lose.So show the Girl some love for Valentine’s Day!
Much love and respect,
