Dirty Step Upstage - feature film
The reality thriller Dirty Step Upstage is our inaugural feature-length film which premiered as the opening night film of Chashama Film Festival in New York, where it won The Victor Award for Best Actress. A review reads:
“My personal fave is “Dirty Step Upstage.” Director Amber Moelter keeps the viewer guessing: is it a real documentary or a fictional thriller? The characters are ominous, secretive, and oblivious, driven by obsession, fame, and revenge. With all the proper thriller elements in place, a slow documented pace adds an underlying tension to the film. Rick Kariolic, the director of Chashama Film Festival said after the festival: “It was an honor to present a performance and film by an actress/songwriter/first-time director who encompasses talent across multi-art platforms.”
Dirty Step Upstage was nominated for 10 awards at the Maverick Movie Awards (Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Editing, Sound Edit, Soundtrack, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress). DSU took home the Best Actress Award.

Dirty Step Upstage went on to win Best Drama from the Amsterdam Film Festival and a Silver Palm award from the Mexico International Film Festival. It played at the Cannes Independent Film Festival and is scheduled for the World Music and Independent Film Festival in Washington, D.C., where it is nominated for Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Original Soundtrack.

ALM Talkies branched out into music production for the Dirty Step Upstage soundtrack, featuring the music of Girl In The Red Dress, a character featured in the film. The music is edgy Electroninc Pop Rock, based around themes in Dirty Step Upstage and Girl’s continuing saga. Her debut EP is now available at the ALMT STORE, featuring two songs from Dirty Step Upstage and a third using motifs from the film.
