Vimeo Festival offers $25K grant and judge panel to die for
June 19th, 2010On Social Saturdays I write about Social Networking.

Shooting People, an international networking organization dedicated to the support and promotion of independent filmmaking, recently hooked up with the Vimeo Festival and Awards.
Here’s what Shooters, as they like the be called, have to say about the online festival:
The premier video sharing platform for professional image creators is running this film upload competition whch features nine categories, a USD25k grant for ‘Best Video’, and a jury for which to just die: David Lynch (yes, really), Roman Coppola, our own Morgan Spurlock, Lucy Walker, DJ Spooky … this is just a sample of a long list, which is being added to all the time.
Here’s the categories, including Digital Maverick and The Feature Presentation Honorary awards.

You can submit your own film or even nominate another film that is online. And if you’d like to go in the running to win a Vimeo+ account, check out the Shooting People poll To Upload, Or Not.
Best of luck!

May 22nd, 2010On Social Saturdays I write about Social Networking.
In 2004 I was cast in a short Catwoman fan film that, unfortunately was never completed. But it garnered press and fans from all over the world . It was probably because of the black Polymorphe latex catsuit a la Michelle Pfeiffer.
In 2005-2006 I got a few friends together and made my own Catwoman/Selina Kyle short film, “Catwoman: Resolution”. It was the first time I worked with Vex Clothing in Chicago to make the amazing purple and black latex catsuit and corset inspired by Jim Balent’s “Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham.”
I took a few years off from Catwoman to produce and direct the feature film “Dirty Step Upstage”, but I always wanted to return to the character to do something fun and different. Earlier in the year I posted a poll to see if there was interest for another Catwoman project. There was.
My original intention was to do another short film, but my summer is already a little hectic with new music production for Girl In The Red Dress and the distribution and marketing of “Dirty Step Upstage”. So, after a bit of brainstorming I am happy to announce…
The Facebook page says:
Love Catwoman, but feel like she’s never been represented purrfectly? Or maybe there ‘s a version of Cats that you’d love to see again? Amber Moelter will be selecting the fan favorites for a series of photoshoots this summer! Who is your Catwoman?
This is your chance to get exactly the Catwoman you’ve always wanted. All you need to do is start posting pictures on the Facebook page, whether they are original or taken from comic books, TV, or film. Let your voice and vision be heard.
I’ll select the fan favorites and employ Vex Clothing to make a custom latex version of the winning designs. I’ll post pictures of the whole process – all the way through to the photo shoot. If you are near the Chicago area and want to get involved, go on the Facebook page and let us know!
What are you waiting for? CATWOMAN NEEDS YOU!

ALMT-SS: How the Catwoman poll is doing
March 13th, 2010On ALMT-Social Saturdays I write about Social Networking.
Last week I first mentioned the possibility that I’ll be bringing Catwoman back to life. Well, here’s how the poll is going…
From what I can gather from my in-depth stats, it looks likes the majority of you say YES to a new Catwoman fan film, with various levels of desired involvement. Well, I’ve started to brainstorm and love the ideas you’ve been throwing my way.
So, keep sending me Catwoman requests and if you haven’t had the chance to vote yet, you can do it here.

March 10th, 2010On ALMT-Wordplay Wednesday I like to monkey around.
We’re undergoing some major online renovations over here at ALMT and I’d love to get your feedback with a possible new direction for the blog. As you know, I love games and puzzles. That’s the idea behind Wordplay Wednesdays. But recently I got a couple of ideas that perhaps could be more interesting to you guys. And if you have other suggestions, I’m all ears.
